Rooster Day
Marengo County Historical Society
Marengo County Historical Society, Inc. owns and operates two of Demopolis’ distinguished landmarks, Lyon Hall and Bluff Hall. It takes a considerable amount of money, in fact the majority of our operating expenses, to preserve and maintain these two architectural gems. MCHS is a non-profit organization that relies on membership, donations, admissions, and annual fundraisers to continue its historic preservation in Marengo County. However, Marengo County Historical Society is more than two historic houses. MCHS also provides heritage education in our local schools and annual events such as Mardi Gras Ball, Derby Day, biennial Pilgrimage of Homes, Haints & Haunts, Christmas in the Canebrake, and of course Rooster Day. In addition, MCHS often partners with other organizations to provide informative programs and lectures. The funds raised at Rooster Day help make all of this happen!
Marengo County Historical Society is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.
